Emma and I stayed at the Capri Berlin Hotel just across the river from the event venue and accommodation I would highly recommend. It's a beautiful new hotel built with apartment facilities in each of the rooms. We didn't use much of our teeny kitchen but it was useful to have it available, especially the fridge. Laundry facilities are freely available for all guests so I came home with a suitcase full of clean clothes which is a massive treat for me, yes I know I probably have to set my lifestyle goals a little higher. And if that wasn't enough when we checked-in we received a complimentary glass of something at the hotel bar. Capri Hotel has all of it's bases covered and with some serious style and great staff!
I was only able to add a little time onto my trip so we did a speed tour of Berlin and sat on the Berlin Bus Tour for 2hrs and saw all the main sights, it was enough of a quick taster to know that I will definitely have to come back and spend a few weekends here exploring.
My previous two experiences of German WCS events has been fabulous. Great dancers, a friendly community and a commitment to learning. Berlin Swing Revolution was no different. We attended the pre-party on Thursday night and my butt did not sit down all night, it was a really lovely introduction to the local wcs community. Each day of classes and night was just the same. The main event was held in the Alte Münze the old German mint and was an interesting industrial type space and will stand out for me in 2017 as the most interesting venue for a dance event.
I've only just started to compete regularly so it is always a treat to make it to the finals. Thank you to Romain for the lovely dances. Having seen the pictures I have committed to looking up at my partner from now on. Please if I'm dancing with any of you lovely souls out there in the future and all you see is the top of my head please do feel free to remind me of this, many thanks xx
